Plan Builder is an expert system patterned after the logic decision trees that have been used within SYSPARS for many years; however, Plan Builder is intended for joint use throughout DOD and other government agencies.
Plan Builder is designed to assist any Program Manager or a DMSMS Team develop a DMSMS Management Plan that will assist in proactive management of DMSMS issues. DMSMS affects almost every system within DOD because of the long life cycle normally associated with DOD weapon systems. Plan Builder is intended to be useful across a wide spectrum of experience levels. Editing Plan Builder is easy and it can be used for a circuit card to a system of systems, with as many subordinate plans as needed to support top level program management. Many plans will be self supporting at lower levels like a card or a box. It is intended that all Military Components and Defense Logistics Agency can see familiar forms and directives during the Plan Builder writing phase. Other Government Agencies like the FAA and US Coast Guard can use it, but for this initial release it will require the manual insertion of Agency specific directives and forms.
Plan Builder is hosted on a US Army LOGSA website, and is one of 14 modules currently in SYSPARS. SYSPARS stands for Systems Planning and Requirements System. One must be a registered SYSPARS user to gain access to Plan Builder, however, registration is easily accomplished through the US Army LOGSA SYSPARS office and can be done in a few hours to one day maximum.
