The following are based on actual cases that SSB has found solution using the SSB Approach...

Case 1: Submarine Program Obsolescence issues

REDUCED COST
Instead of purchasing $1 million worth of cards, with SSB the program now has a longer support term at a lower up-front cost. The program was able to avoid purchasing 119 boards as a life of type buy and instead bought components for $25 thousand.

PEACE OF MIND
A major Submarine program has the comfort of knowing that the SVME-166-177-VX can be made for 10 years and repaired for 12 years.

Case 2: Circuit board obsolescence issue

REDUCED COST
Instead of purchasing a Life of Type Buy total of 466 boards for $2.6 million, with SSB the program was able to purchase the obsolete components needed for $32 k and defer the purchase of the boards as needed over the next 10 years.

PEACE OF MIND
With SSB there was no surprise about the three components that went obsolete, giving the program the option to buy those components exclusively for their use.

Case 3: Component-level obsolescence issue

REDUCED COST
Last time buy date was issued due to a component becoming obsolete, which would have required a cost of $143 K. The necessary components to support the future needs were purchased for $17 K.

PEACE OF MIND
The program would be able to buy All-Up assemblies as required over the next 15 years.
